September Reads

I've been mostly reading books for research lately, but I took time out to read a book by Susan Kaye Quinn, titled "Faery Swap." The book was refreshing and fun and reminded me how important reviews can be for an author.
Although the story is about a couple of children, I easily fell into the world that Ms. Quinn created. The story follows a thirteen year old boy and his little sister. The boy is swapped out by a faery who takes over the boy's body. Now the boy must figure out how to get back to earth realm because his young sister is totally dependent on him. Their mother died and their father was mostly absent from their home.
In the faery realm, the boy comes across a woman faery who is seeking the faery who swapped out with him. I won't give away any more of the story except that it has a happy ending. What's more fascinating is that while I've been researching my family tree, the name Quinn is part of my history. My great, great grandmother was a Quinn. And when she arrived in America, the family only knew about Margaret and her sister, Bridget. What I discovered was Margaret was the eldest of three girls and they had nine brothers. So, the chances of being related to another Quinn is quite possible.
Just reading about the Irish has been fascinating. I hope to have my book, "Are You My Irish Cousin?" finished this year. Then, I will move on to the Czech and Hispanic sides of my family. The Irish names I've been researching are Quinns, Conways, Gardiners, and Fallons. So, if you have any of these names in your family tree, drop me a line and let me know. Be sure and put 'FAMILY TREE' in the subject line so I won't miss it, at ester@esterlopez.com.
