THE VAEDRA CHRONICLES—a series of stories set in the Vaedra System.

Centuries ago in the Vaedran cycle, the planet Vestra had become over-populated.  The Council of Nations decided  to sustain life and keep the races separated, an exploratory mission would set out to discover what planets, if any, were able to accomodate them.

Throughout the Vaedra System, it was determined that many of the planets were habitable, as well as their moons.  Colonies were then planned to keep the races separate where they could rule themselves on their own planets.

Those of mixed races looked outside the Vaedran System and found a small planet similar to Vestra.  It had everything they needed, even a similar language.  We call it Earth.

Meanwhile, scientists worked feverishly on developing alternate methods for supplying power, fuel, and food sources for Vestra, as well as the new colonies being planned.

Colonization began on Persus, where it was as large as Vestra, but with six moons.  There was plenty of room to accommodate the three tribes of Naronn descendants.  The six moons are: Hestia, Cyra, Pari, Asha, Val and Kurush.

Next was Tarsius with its five moons:  Mot, Lun, Veg, Ti and Hapnor.  On this planet, the Junali descendants were sent to colonize the place and eventually separated into five major groups, according to their tribal councils.  At the time of their migration, two moons had not been explored—Ti and Hapnor.

The remaining planets were Semtron, Vestra Minor, Plumaris, Atria, Chroma, and Plexus.  Semtron was deemed uninhabitable due to its extremes in temperatures, as well as it being the closest to Vaedra, the sun.

Vestra Minor was inhabited by tribes descended from the Taecle’ann.  Vestra Minor had no moons, and the Taecle’anns were small in number.

Atria became inhabited by tribes of Micca Nulee descent, with each tribe inhabiting different regions of the planet.  Atria had one moon, Adara, which was deemed habitable.

Migration to Chroma with its six moons began later.  Only one moon, Creton, had been explored at the time of migration.  Chroma was colonized by those of Scandin descent.  The most savage of these descendants lived on Creton.

The migration of Plexus by the descendants of the Huanti peoples began last.  At that time, all three moons had been explored and deemed habitable.  However, the tribes of the Huanti were small enough that the moons were not needed.  Only one moon, Meta, had been named.

Plumaris had a vast source of tulin, titanium, and helium gases.  The three moons, A1, A2, and A3, held other sources of ore, precious metals, crystals, as well as some undiscovered ores.  The Council of Nations would decide the fate of this planet and its moons at a later date.  In the meantime, it would be used as a penal colony.  Leviticus Station, known as “The Gates of Hell,” would hold criminals convicted of violent crimes that would serve their time mining these ores, gases, and metals.  The station was heavily guarded.  The profits of these metals would go to the planets where the crimes were committed as well as to the families or persons the crime was against.

Vestra became Vestra Major when Vestra Minor was colonized.  The tribes remaining on Vestra Major were all descended from the Caucus people, whose numbers were as great as the Naronn. Vestra Major had one moon, but it was uninhabitable.

Over 100 years ago in the Vaedran cycle, the Interplanetary Space Patrol was formed to enforce safe space travel between the planets.  Their jurisdiction covered the entire Vaedra System and beyond, depending on the scope of the crime.  They enforced the laws set up by the Council of Nations.  Four main space stations, where travelers could re-fuel both their ships and bodies are located throughout the system, with several smaller stations sprinkled between each of the planets and moons.  The smaller stations are independently run for profit, but regulated by the Council, so that trade is fair among all stations.

GOVERNMENT

Each planet governs itself with tribal councils deciding among them the best way to deal with their own laws and problems.  Each tribe has at least two representatives that go to the tribal council meetings monthly to voice the opinions of the tribe.  Then, when the Council of Nations meets twice a year, the tribal council sends two representatives from each planet, as well as one representative from each tribe to these semi-annual meetings to report on the progress of the colonies.  Each tribe contributes to the cost of the governing body’s expenses for travel.  All representatives are volunteers, and are not paid for their time.

The official language of all planets is Vaedran dialect, with it's beginnings from Ancient Vaedran, but each planet can choose one or more languages to be used on their planet.

**It is written in the law books of Vestra Major, in the year 1099, Vaedran cycle, that in order to preserve the races it is forbidden for anyone to take a mate from a different race.  Anyone found guilty of this crime would be exiled.
